Havas acquires Archrival to strengthen Havas Play’s aports and culture push

PARIS: Havas is doubling down on the business of culture, sports and fandom. The global communications group has acquired a majority stake in Archrival, a US-based youth culture and experiential marketing agency, in a move designed to accelerate the growth of Havas Play across North America and strengthen its capabilities in sports marketing, live experiences and Gen Z engagement.

Founded in 1997, Archrival has built its reputation by helping brands connect with younger audiences through sports, collegiate activations, ambassador networks and immersive experiences. The agency works with a roster of global brands including adidas, Spotify, Netflix, EA, YouTube, Google, Disney and Amazon.

The acquisition significantly expands Havas Play’s offering across sports marketing, creator engagement, branded partnerships, experiential activations and community-led brand building. The move comes as marketers increasingly look to tap into fandom, creator culture and live experiences to build stronger consumer relationships.

Havas said the deal will help brands engage audiences through passion points that drive participation, advocacy and long-term loyalty. The addition of Archrival also enhances Havas Play’s ability to help clients build cultural relevance while delivering measurable business outcomes.

Combined with Havas’ Converged.AI operating system, Archrival’s expertise in collegiate activations, grassroots engagement and ambassador programmes is expected to help clients identify emerging cultural trends faster and activate communities more effectively.

Havas chairman and CEO Yannick Bolloré said Archrival’s expertise strengthens the group’s capabilities in a rapidly growing segment of the marketing industry.

For Havas, North America remains a key growth market as the lines between sports, entertainment, creators and commerce continue to blur.

Havas Media Network North America CEO Greg James said brands increasingly need partners capable of helping them navigate a rapidly evolving consumer landscape.

Archrival CEO and founder Clint Runge said the agency’s success has come from understanding what genuinely resonates with younger generations rather than simply chasing trends.
