Snapchat rolls out Unified Attribution for app advertisers globally
AppsFlyer and Adjust signals join Snapchat data to improve campaign optimisation and measurement
MUMBAI: Snapchat is trying to make attribution less of a guessing game. The platform has globally rolled out Unified Attribution, giving app advertisers a single view combining Snapchat’s campaign data with cross-channel measurement signals from mobile measurement partners (MMPs) including AppsFlyer and Adjust.
The move targets a familiar headache for app marketers: advertising platforms and MMPs can work with separate performance signals, leaving marketers to stitch the numbers together when deciding which campaigns deserve more money.
With Unified Attribution, advertisers can feed MMP conversion signals into Snapchat alongside the platform’s own data and use the combined signals to optimise campaigns in real time. The offering is currently available globally to advertisers using AppsFlyer and Adjust, with additional MMP partners expected to be added.
Snap said early tests across markets and app categories have shown improvements in campaign performance.
One gaming advertiser using AppsFlyer data recorded a 26 per cent lower cost per acquisition compared with campaigns optimised using SKAN signals.
Mohegan Sun Online Casino reported an 89.8 per cent increase in ROAS and a 77 per cent reduction in CPI by the fourth week of testing Unified Attribution against its existing approach.
In France, financial app Deblock, combining Adjust signals with Snapchat’s first-party data, reported a 25 per cent reduction in eCPI, 28 per cent lower cost per completed onboarding, 43 per cent more installs and a 31 per cent increase in users reached.
Mobile app publisher Codeway reported an 18 per cent reduction in CPI and 1.8 times higher scale, while maintaining its cost-per-purchase performance.
The launch comes as digital advertising platforms increasingly seek to align campaign optimisation with the way advertisers measure their media investments.
Rather than making marketers choose between platform-level data and independent measurement, Unified Attribution is designed to bring the two together. Adjust said the integration offers advertisers a more consistent picture of campaign performance, while AppsFlyer positioned it as a bridge between platform optimisation and how advertisers assess their media spend.
For app marketers, that distinction matters: better measurement is useful, but the real prize is being able to turn those signals into faster campaign decisions.
Adrian Mulryan, VP of Global Agency at Snapchat, said the company wants advertisers to combine the cross-channel signals they trust with Snapchat’s own data and optimise towards business outcomes.
With the global rollout, Snap is effectively putting more measurement signals into the same optimisation engine, an attempt to make the path from ad spend to app install, onboarding and purchase a little less blurry.
