Rohit Sharma’s Family Full House sets Sony LIV record with debut
Sony Pictures Networks India’s new non-fiction show also trends worldwide on X
MUMBAI: Rohit Sharma has taken his knack for big hits from the cricket field to television, with Family Full House with Rohit Sharma delivering a record-breaking launch for Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI).
The new entertainment property registered the biggest launch day for any non-fiction show on Sony LIV following its premiere on 19 September. The show also trended at number one worldwide on X through Saturday evening, according to SPNI.
The strong digital response follows the buzz generated by previews of the show, which had already clocked millions of views and engagements across social media before its premiere.
Produced by Fremantle and based on the globally successful Family Feud format, the show sees Sharma step into a television role that puts his personality rather than his cricketing skills at the centre.
His humour, spontaneity and easy chemistry with guests emerged as key talking points following the premiere. Candid reactions and quick-witted exchanges offered viewers a more relaxed side of the cricketer, away from the intensity of the cricket field.
The property is also being positioned as a family entertainment destination for brands. Multiple brands have partnered with the show, using SPNI’s television and digital platforms as well as contextual integrations to become part of the viewing experience.
Nachiket Pantvaidya, chief content officer, SET, Sony Marathi and Sony LIV, SPNI, said the response to the show had been extraordinary, with audiences discovering a different side of Sharma.
“Rohit is one of the world’s finest cricketers and enjoys a very special connection with audiences. Through this show, they are discovering his humour, spontaneity and natural warmth in an entirely new setting,” Pantvaidya said.
He added that the record Sony LIV launch and the conversation across television and social media had reinforced SPNI’s confidence in the format and its ability to bring families together.
Family Full House with Rohit Sharma airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and streams simultaneously on Sony LIV.
