WPP Media appoints Varun Nair as senior director

WPP Media has gone shopping in the audience-data trenches and come back with Varun Nair, naming him senior director as the company beefs up its leadership bench around data-driven media, content and audience engagement.

Nair’s brief is broad and unmistakably strategic: driving media initiatives, deepening client relationships, sharpening audience-intelligence frameworks, and generally greasing the wheels of growth across WPP Media’s sprawling marketing ecosystem.

He arrives with a résumé built across some of India’s biggest media and measurement outfits, having held leadership roles at ZEE5, Wavemaker India and BARC India. At each stop, Nair had a hand in shaping media strategy, building audience-analytics programmes, driving digital growth and pushing organisations toward data-led decision-making, experience that spans streaming platforms, media agencies and the industry’s measurement bodies in equal measure.

The skill set on offer reads like a checklist for the moment the industry is in: media planning, digital transformation, consumer insights, content monetisation, audience measurement and strategic partnerships, stitched together by someone who has sat on both the content and measurement sides of the table.

In his new perch, Nair will work alongside WPP Media’s leadership, clients and industry stakeholders to sharpen the company’s strategic offerings, push innovation across its media solutions, and build out audience-centric capabilities for a marketplace that grows more data-soaked by the quarter.
