MUMBAI: When the sauce starts dripping, the views seem to follow. Popeyes India’s latest influencer-led campaign for its Dip N’Drip sauce range has crossed 4.5 million organic views on Instagram, turning a product launch into a creator-led food moment aimed at Gen Z and Millennial audiences.

Conceptualised and executed by Viral Pitch, the campaign was built around the simple “Dip → Drip → Dig In” idea, putting the food rather than conventional product messaging at the centre of the communication.

The campaign introduced four new sauces Garlic Mayo, Habanero, Spicy Korean and Hot & Sweet through visually driven creator content designed to make viewers almost taste the product through their screens. Close-up shots of sauce drips, indulgent dips and genuine reactions formed the backbone of the storytelling.

Rather than relying on traditional review-style content, Popeyes and Viral Pitch worked with creators across the nano, micro and mid-tier segments on Instagram. The campaign’s organic views subsequently crossed the 4.5 million-plus mark, with multiple posts going viral and outperforming the initial projections.

The campaign’s performance also offered a glimpse into what is working in food influencer marketing. Content built around close-up food visuals, emotional reactions and sensory storytelling consistently performed better than conventional product reviews, while food-focused creators emerged as the strongest performers.

For a QSR category where the product often needs to look as tempting on a phone screen as it does on a restaurant table, the approach puts creator content firmly on the menu. The campaign sought to use the visual appeal of food to build product awareness and encourage consumers to experience the new sauces in-store.

Sumit Gupta, Founder, Viral Pitch, said the objective was to create more than awareness around the launch and instead establish a consumption ritual that consumers would engage with and share.

Vibhor Gupta, EVP and Chief Business Officer at Popeyes, said the campaign built on learnings from earlier initiatives and collaborations, with the brand’s response exceeding its expectations.

The campaign comes as influencer marketing continues to move beyond simply placing products in creators’ hands. For Popeyes, the 4.5 million-plus organic views suggest that when the content is designed to make audiences stop, stare and, ideally, reach for a dip, the scroll can turn into a serving suggestion.
