Nikhil Kant joins Meta as consumer marketing lead, leaving FlixBus behind
From Uber’s global social media desk to Meta’s consumer marketing ranks, this brand strategist’s next chapter comes with a wall of emojis and no shortage of wit
NEW DELHI: Some career moves come with elaborate press releases. Nikhil Kant’s came with a photograph of himself standing in front of a giant emoji wall, hands in pockets, and a self-deprecating admission that he nearly wrote something far too grand about the whole affair. That restraint, oddly enough, says as much about his approach to marketing as any formal announcement could.
Kant joins Meta in consumer marketing after a stint leading India marketing and sales for FlixBus, the world’s largest bus operator, where he spent close to two years running everything from brand and social to content and sales, offline and online distribution included. Before that, he built the brand from the ground up at Even in Abu Dhabi, taking on the full zero to one brand journey: communication planning, media strategy, visual language, tone of voice and the internal creative team, all in under three years.
The résumé before that reads like a tour of some of the world’s biggest consumer and mobility brands. At Uber, Kant held three roles across three continents in as many years, moving from head of social media, content and media planning for India and South Asia, to head of APAC social media and India media planning, to global social media lead for Uber’s mobility vertical out of San Francisco. Campaigns under his watch, including the ICC Cricket World Cup’s Parks Not Parking initiative and the #JerseyKnowsNoGender movement kickstarted by Virat Kohli during the 2018 Women’s T20 World Cup, moved well beyond conventional brand messaging into genuine cultural moments.
His time at BAT as head of social for North Asia and eight years at Interactive Avenues, rising from account manager to associate vice president, gave him deep exposure to integrated digital strategy across marquee clients such as Coca-Cola, Sony, Reckitt Benckiser and Micromax. That agency grounding, paired with his in-house stints at Uber, Even and FlixBus, has built a marketer equally comfortable pitching strategy in a boardroom and building a brand narrative from scratch.
Kant is also an angel investor in early-stage startups, a content marketing trainer with Upgrad and GrowthSchool, and a podcast host, a portfolio that suggests his instincts extend well beyond any single employer’s brief. For Meta, bringing in someone with this breadth of brand-building experience across mobility, FMCG and hospitality sectors, and this evident sense of humour about his own career milestones, looks like a shrewd addition to its consumer marketing bench.
