Six new OTT releases to stream across platforms from August 21 to 23

MUMBAI: This weekend, the watchlist is jungle-ready, romance-bound and slightly dark. From Vijay’s political action drama Jana Nayagan to Akshay Kumar’s comedy-action outing Welcome To The Jungle, six new films across languages and genres are arriving on OTT platforms between August 21 and 23.

Leading the weekend line-up is Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth and also starring Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju. Following its theatrical release on July 23, the political action drama will premiere on ZEE5 on August 21.

For viewers looking for something lighter, Welcome To The Jungle brings a Hindi comedy-action mix to JioHotstar from August 21. The film follows a group whose seemingly safe jungle outing quickly turns chaotic as unexpected trouble comes their way.

Romance gets a regional spin with Telugu film Chennai Love Story, directed by Ravi Namburii. The story follows Nivedita, who moves to Chennai after her fiancé calls off their wedding and subsequently meets aspiring filmmaker Steven Shankar. The romantic drama arrives on SonyLIV on August 21.

Fantasy enters the weekend with The Great Grand Superhero, a comedy drama centred on a young boy convinced that his grandfather has superpowers and is destined to save the world from an alien invasion. The film is streaming on ZEE5 from August 21.

Meanwhile, Netflix adds Tamil family comedy Pyaar Prema Kalyanam, directed by Elan and starring Saanve Meghana and Elan. The story flips the conventional family-home equation when influencer Pavi refuses to move into her husband’s family home, prompting him to move into hers instead. The film arrives on August 21.

For those who prefer their weekend viewing with a darker edge, psychological horror thriller Dark is available on Prime Video from August 21. The film revolves around hidden secrets and mounting tension as disturbing revelations force its characters to confront what lies beneath the unfolding events.

With political drama, jungle chaos, romance, fantasy, family comedy and psychological horror all competing for weekend screen time, the August 21–23 OTT slate offers a little something for almost every streaming mood.
