India’s Got Latent Season 2 lands on Netflix and YouTube in landmark deal
A simultaneous release keeps fans in the loop while expanding the show’s reach
MUMBAI: The speculation has finally gone from latent to blatant. After weeks of rumours, comedian and creator Samay Raina has confirmed a groundbreaking distribution partnership with Netflix India that will see India’s Got Latent Season 2 arrive simultaneously on both Netflix and YouTube.
The new season premieres on 20 June 2026 at 7pm IST, with fresh episodes scheduled to drop every two weeks. The dual-platform strategy is a rare move in India’s streaming and creator economy, allowing the show to tap into Netflix’s premium audience while preserving the massive YouTube community that helped turn the format into a cultural phenomenon.
For fans, the arrangement offers the best of both worlds. Viewers can tune in via YouTube and participate in the platform’s trademark live-chat frenzy, or watch on Netflix for an ad-free viewing experience. For Netflix, the partnership delivers a creator-led franchise with an already established and highly engaged fan base.
One of the biggest questions surrounding the move was whether the show’s famously unfiltered humour would survive the transition to a global streaming giant. Addressing those concerns in a promotional video alongside Balraj Ghai, Raina reassured viewers that the essence of the programme would remain unchanged.
While joking about Netflix’s lack of comments and advertisements, he made it clear that the show’s irreverent tone, edgy comedy and no-holds-barred approach would continue in the new season.
The return is particularly significant given the turbulent end to Season 1. Earlier episodes were removed from YouTube after a major controversy involving guest panellist Ranveer Allahbadia triggered widespread criticism, legal scrutiny and multiple FIRs. The fallout forced the show offline, leaving its future uncertain.
Season 2 therefore represents more than just a new chapter. It is a high-profile comeback for one of India’s most talked-about digital entertainment properties and a test case for how creator-driven formats can collaborate with mainstream streaming platforms without losing their identity.
Adding to the buzz are reports of celebrity appearances in the opening run of episodes. Leaked images from the redesigned set have fuelled speculation that Alia Bhatt and Sharvari could feature on the show as part of promotions for their upcoming film, Alpha.
The partnership extends beyond the talent competition format. Netflix has also announced that Raina is developing a separate, exclusive comedy special that will stream only on the platform, signalling a broader creative relationship between the comedian and the streaming service.
With a dual-platform launch, a promise of uncensored comedy and a comeback story already built into its narrative, India’s Got Latent is returning with plenty to prove. Whether viewers choose Netflix or YouTube, one thing appears certain: the conversation around the show is set to be just as loud as the laughs.
