Zee plans new series of ‘Ramayana’, ‘Mahabharata’
Zee TV has announced it will shortly be bringing updated versions of the superhit mythologicals – Ramayana and Mahabharata – to Indian viewers.
Zee TV will be commissioning new productions of both serials and has already commenced talks with production houses with the objective to put these serials on air by October, a company release says.
Mythological serials are the original television hits of India, the first to cut across all barriers, including rural-urban divides, to effectively reach out to viewers not only across the country but also around the world, Sandeep Goyal, group CEO, Zee TV, said.
"Considering evolving audience tastes and the technology at their disposal today, Zee was looking at improved new renditions with the finest production values that would be in synch with today's viewers and garner empathy from them. As per research done by Zee, there was great interest in these epics of Indian civilization and it would be a proud privilege to bring these serials to viewers once again," Goyal added.
