MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India has teed off a long game in golf broadcasting. The network has secured exclusive television and digital media rights for the DP World Tour for three seasons, from 2026 to 2028, bringing one of global sport’s most travelled circuits to screens across the subcontinent.

The deal covers tournaments staged in more than 20 countries, including five blue riband Rolex Series events, and will be broadcast across India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka. For viewers, that means a passport-free journey from iconic European fairways to sun-baked desert courses and beyond.

Action begins this week with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, live on Sony LIV from January 22. The calendar then swings firmly towards home, with two marquee events in India. The Hero Indian Open returns from March 26 to 29, followed by the DP World India Championship from October 15 to 18, once again placing India squarely on golf’s global map.

Sony says the multi-year partnership is about more than just broadcasting rights. It is part of a wider push to grow golf’s audience by pairing expansive digital coverage on Sony LIV with curated television moments that even casual viewers can dip into without knowing their birdies from their bogeys.

“The DP World Tour represents the very best of global professional golf,” said Sony Pictures Networks India chief revenue officer and business head for sports and international Rajesh Kaul. “This long-term partnership allows us to build continuity, scale and deeper fan engagement, while delivering a premium viewing experience across digital and television platforms.”

From the Tour’s side, India’s growing importance remains central. DP World Tour chief revenue and content officer Richard Bunn, said the new deal strengthens long-standing ties with the country. “India and its leading players have always been important to us. With the DP World India Championship now joining the Hero Indian Open on our global schedule, we are delighted to have Sony Pictures Networks India exclusively broadcast and livestream our tournaments as we travel to 25 countries this season.”
