Published

MUMBAI: Guess what, seems like reality game shows are in vogue. Earlier it was lone Mike on AXN challenging people to do things that they never thought they should, would or could do, now it is the music channels joining the bandwagon.

With their latest MTV Bum Mein Dum, the Viacom’s music arm will be testing wit, talent and strength of six young enthusiastic contestants every Sunday at 7:30 pm.

Hosted by the official wild anchor-presenter Nikhil Chinapa, tattoos and numerous punk rings et al, the New Kwality Wall’s Feast Almond Fudge sponsored MTV Bum Mein Dum is all set to launch on Friday 18 April 2003 at 5 pm.

With rival Channel [V]’s Punga already on air, the corny titled game show promises to give some real adrenaline rush with MTV istyle spunk. Instead of roping in one ‘bakra’, celebrity or otherwise, each episode will feature two contestants each from three colleges across the country, set to face their most primal fears. The teams are pitted against each other with a series of challenges and a grand price for the winner duo, as the bait of course.

The show’s fear-factor, the daredevil challenges include kissing frogs (yuck!) and transporting them from one tank to another over rugged terrain, removing thorns from eggs using ones mouth and then eating the eggs or rappelling and swimming across a lake 150 feet deep to rescue a drowning doll!

All the challenges come with a statutory warning though, do not try this at home. MTV Bum Mein Dum team have arranged for the dares to be performed under strict supervision of professional coordinators and trainers with a doctor and an ambulance on standby at all times.
