HBO to receive International Emmy Founders Award
CANNES: The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (International TV Academy) announced today that the cable entity, HBO will receive the prestigious International Emmy Founders Award at the 31st International Emmy Awards on November 24, 2003.
“HBO and its creative leaders, have changed the landscape of television, setting an example for the world in programming innovation and raising the bar for the industry in program trends. The International TV Academy is very pleased to recognize this unique and forward-thinking organization,” said Bruce Paisner, Chairman of the International TV Academy and President, Hearst Entertainment.
The International Emmy Founders Award celebrates the accomplishments of an individual or a company whose work is recognized throughout the world embodying the vision of the founders of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, crossing cultural boundaries to touch our common humanity. This is primarily an award for creative achievement and is not necessarily presented annually. Previous winners of this award include, among others, Howard Stringer, CEO of Sony Corporation of America; Film on Four” from Channel 4 – UK; John Hendricks, Founder & CEO of Discovery; Robert Halmi, Sr.; Bill Cosby; Jacques-Yves Cousteau; Sir David Attenborough and Jim Henson. .
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is the largest organization of global broadcasters, with representatives from over 50 countries on its Board. It was chartered in 1969 with a mission to honor and encourage excellence in television programming outside the United States by presenting the International Emmy Award. Zee5 launches five free FAST channels on Samsung TV Plus India
New genre-led channels bring comedy, drama, horror, classics and South films to Smart TVs.
MUMBAI: Zee5 just turned Samsung Smart TVs into a free entertainment buffet because when premium content costs nothing, even the remote control starts smiling. Zee5 has launched five curated free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels on Samsung TV Plus India, making high-quality, genre-specific entertainment available subscription-free to millions of Samsung Smart TV owners across the country.
The five channels now live are:
Zee Comedy Nation – Popular comedy shows and movies
Zee Dil Se – Compelling drama series
ZEE Horror Nights – Horror and supernatural content
ZEE Cine Classic – Timeless Indian films
ZEE South Flix – High-energy South Indian films dubbed in Hindi
All content is drawn from Zee5’s extensive library and programmed in a lean-back, always-on format ideal for large-screen viewing. This launch strengthens Zee5’s Connected TV strategy at a time when 64 per cent of its premium content watch time already comes from connected devices.

The channels are available directly through the pre-installed Samsung TV Plus app with no login or subscription required. This marks another milestone in Zee5’s CTV expansion and builds on its growing international presence, with Zee channels already available on Samsung TV Plus across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
