Zee appoints Shipra Wahi as chief sales officer for Zee5
Former Meta executive to lead monetisation strategy as Zee sharpens digital focus
MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. is strengthening its digital advertising playbook with the appointment of Shipra Wahi as chief sales officer for Zee5.
The move comes as the company sharpens its focus on boosting profitability in its digital business and unlocking newer monetisation opportunities across its streaming platform.
Based out of Noida, Wahi will oversee Zee5’s strategic revenue approach across sales, strategy and operations, while building a future-ready digital sales ecosystem aimed at driving advertiser growth.
She will report to Sandeep Mehrotra, who currently leads the company’s integrated advertisement revenue architecture.
The appointment forms part of Zee’s broader effort to strengthen its digital business through sharper monetisation strategies, stronger advertiser partnerships and integrated platform offerings.
Speaking on the appointment, Zee Entertainment Enterprises chief operating officer advertisement revenue Sandeep Mehrotra said the digital advertising ecosystem is evolving rapidly, with brands increasingly looking for integrated and data-led advertising solutions.
He added that Wahi’s experience in building revenue strategies and scaling digital ecosystems would help strengthen Zee5’s position among advertisers.
Meanwhile, Shipra Wahi said the platform had already built a strong growth foundation and that the focus ahead would be on combining innovative advertising solutions with newer monetisation models.
Wahi brings more than 20 years of experience across financial services, e-commerce, consulting and consumer technology sectors.
Before joining Zee, she worked at Meta, where she helped build creator partnerships and scale ecosystem development initiatives within the creator economy.
Her earlier stints also include organisations such as Amazon, Citi and AT Kearney across India and the Middle East.
Zee said it remains focused on building scale for Zee5 through a combination of content investments, improved user experience and stronger advertising capabilities.
As streaming platforms race to balance audience growth with profitability, Zee appears to be betting that sharper monetisation and stronger ad-tech muscle can help keep the revenue stream flowing.
