MUMBAIYash Raj Films is going all in on talent management, and it has handed the keys to Arjun Banerjee. India’s biggest homegrown legacy media company has named him head, YRF Talent, its talent management venture, tasking him with scaling a business that already counts some of Bollywood’s biggest names on its books.

Banerjee arrives with the kind of résumé the job demands. He spent over three years at Collective Artists Network before that, and nearly a decade at Exceed Entertainment, where he rose through leadership roles including head, talent and new ventures, and head, live business. Along the way he built a reputation for managing artist relationships and scaling live entertainment businesses, exactly the skill set YRF is now betting on.

The appointment is a statement of intent. YRF is not content to be just a studio; it wants a genuine foothold in talent and entertainment, and Banerjee’s hire signals just how seriously it is chasing that ambition. He will report directly to Akshaye Widhani, chief executive officer of Yash Raj Films.

Widhani did not hold back on the enthusiasm. “We’re delighted to welcome Arjun as head of YRF Talent. The talent landscape is evolving rapidly, and success today demands a management approach that is strategic, entrepreneurial and deeply collaborative. Arjun brings industry insight, strong relationships and a proven ability to build enduring careers,” he said, adding, “As we continue to grow the business, we’re confident his leadership will reflect our ambition to build a world-class talent business that creates long-term value for our artists and partners.”

The roster Banerjee inherits is already stacked. YRF Talent represents Rani Mukerji, Ayushmann Khurrana, Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda, Sharvari, Sonam Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Shreya Chaudhary, a client list most agencies would kill for.

With Banerjee now at the helm, YRF’s talent ambitions have a face, and Bollywood’s talent business just got a new player to watch.
