MUMBAI: Collective Studios’ Historyverse, AI technology company Galleri5 and Indonesia’s Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) have partnered to develop original Indonesian stories for films and series aimed at global audiences.

The collaboration will focus on stories drawn from Indonesia’s cultural heritage, including mythology, fantasy, history and animation. It will combine Indonesian creative talent and cultural knowledge with Historyverse’s intellectual property development capabilities and Galleri5’s AI-powered production technology.

The first concept under discussion is Echoes of Nusantara, a mythology-adventure project. Historyverse will lead creative development, studio production and IP packaging, working with Indonesian creators to shape projects for potential financing, production and international distribution.

Singhasari will connect the initiative with local creators, studios, investors, distributors and creative-economy institutions to build partnerships and routes to market.

Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and chairman of the National Council for Special Economic Zones, Airlangga Hartarto, said artificial intelligence could support the country’s economic transformation by creating skilled jobs and new sources of growth.

He added that collaboration with India, which he described as a fellow digital powerhouse of the Global South, could accelerate that ambition.

India’s ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, said the two countries’ shared cultural heritage, including the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, offered a foundation for collaboration in the creative economy.

KRAT David Santoso KR, CEO of Lokanima and Singhasari Special Economic Zone, said the partnership aimed to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness in technology and digital content, with local talent and intellectual property at its centre.

Galleri5’s flagship platform, G5 AI Studio, integrates more than 200 AI models with workflows for storyboarding, character and world design, animation, visual effects and cinematic video production.

The company said its technology had been used to produce more than 10,000 advertisements and videos, spanning creative and commercial applications.

The partnership builds on Collective Artists Network and Galleri5’s work in AI-native entertainment production in India. Galleri5 developed the AI filmmaking technology and production pipelines for Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, launched by JioStar and Collective Media Network on Star Plus and JioHotstar.

The company is also developing workflows for Historyverse’s theatrical slate, which includes Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal and Krishna.

Collective Artists Network founder and group CEO Vijay Subramaniam said Indonesia had a wealth of stories that could be developed into films, series and larger entertainment properties for international audiences.

Galleri5 founder and CEO and Collective Artists Network partner Rahul Regulapati said the initiative would combine AI models and filmmaking workflows with Indonesian creative talent and Collective’s studio capabilities.

The partners said the collaboration would allow Indonesian creators to retain a central role in storytelling and IP development while using technology to explore new production possibilities and take locally rooted stories to wider audiences.
