VLCC raises Rs 110 crore from BlackSoil Capital
Carlyle-backed beauty and wellness company will use funds to expand stores and products
MUMBAI: VLCC is giving its growth plans a fresh financial facelift. The beauty and wellness company has raised Rs 110 crore in financing from alternative credit platform BlackSoil Capital, adding fresh firepower as it looks to expand across beauty, wellness and personal care.
The Carlyle-backed company said the funding will support business expansion, strengthen its operating platform and help drive the growth of its subsidiaries. The capital is also expected to support new product launches and expansion of its store network.
Founded by Vandana Luthra in 1989, VLCC has grown into a beauty and wellness network spanning more than 250 locations across over 130 cities.
The latest financing comes after a major ownership change. In January 2023, global investment firm Carlyle Group acquired a controlling 63 per cent stake in VLCC for Rs 2,700 crore, bringing the long-running Indian beauty and wellness brand under new ownership.
Deepak Taluja, CEO of VLCC, said the financing would allow the company to pursue growth across its businesses, including new products and stores, while responding to rising demand for organised beauty and wellness services and products.
The company is also looking to use the capital to improve customer experience and build a stronger operating platform as it expands its footprint.
For BlackSoil, the transaction adds another investment to its alternative credit business. The platform has Assets Under Management of $275 million.
With Rs 110 crore now in the kitty, VLCC is betting that more stores, more products and a broader beauty-and-wellness footprint can keep its next phase of growth looking as polished as its brand.
