MUMBAI: Himalaya is getting a new hand at the helm, with Vikas Gupta set to join the company as chief executive officer, India.

Gupta will move from VLCC, where he currently serves as chief executive officer and managing director. He brings more than 27 years of experience across FMCG, consumer businesses, digital commerce and business transformation, with stints at several major Indian and global companies.

Gupta spent more than two decades at Unilever, holding leadership roles across India and international markets including Singapore, Brazil, the UK and Indonesia. His roles spanned brand building, marketing, commercial leadership and P&L management across multiple consumer categories.

He later joined Flipkart as chief customer and marketing officer, where he worked on customer growth and engagement at the e-commerce company. In 2021, he moved to Nykaa as CEO of Superstore, Nykaa Pro and Nykaa International, where he built and scaled the company’s B2B beauty commerce business.

At Nykaa, Gupta built Superstore from the ground up and expanded its reach across India’s beauty retail ecosystem. He subsequently joined VLCC in 2023 as CEO and managing director, taking charge of the company’s transformation and growth strategy.

During his tenure at VLCC, Gupta led a shift towards a services-led growth model and expanded the company’s clinic network. He also launched new business verticals spanning advanced hair, men’s grooming and aesthetic dentistry, while driving technology-led operational and performance changes.

At Himalaya, Gupta will take charge of the India business of the herbal healthcare and wellness company. Founded in 1930, Himalaya has built its portfolio around combining Ayurvedic knowledge with modern scientific research, with products spanning healthcare, personal care, oral care, baby care and animal health.

The company has a presence in more than 100 countries, giving Gupta a sizeable consumer portfolio to steer as he takes on his new role.

An engineer from Delhi College of Engineering and an MBA from IIM Lucknow, Gupta brings experience across consumer strategy, brand building, digital and e-commerce, P&L leadership and business transformation.

His move to Himalaya brings together experience from FMCG giants, e-commerce platforms, beauty retail and wellness, positioning him to lead the company’s India business through its next phase of growth.
