Universal Music Group elevates executive to lead OST and South label cluster
MUMBAI: Universal Music Group has elevated Tanya Chhabra to the role of assistant general manager for streaming partnerships across its OST and South label cluster.
Chhabra announced the move on LinkedIn, marking another step in her five-year journey with the global music giant, where she has worked across marketing, promotions and artist growth functions.
In her new role, she is expected to focus on strengthening streaming partnerships and expanding the reach of original soundtracks and regional music across digital platforms, a space that continues to see rapid growth as audiences increasingly shift towards streaming-first music consumption.
Before this elevation, Chhabra served as senior manager for audio marketing and growth in Universal Music Group’s commercial music division. She also previously led marketing for IndieA Records and headed promotions for the company’s independent music labels.
Over the years, she has worked on campaigns for a wide range of independent and commercial music releases, including projects associated with artists such as DIVINE, Harrdy Sandhu, Vishal Mishra, Sukriti and Prakriti Kakar, and B Praak.
Prior to joining Universal Music Group, Chhabra spent over three years at Saregama India Ltd., where she handled film and music marketing campaigns across theatrical releases, regional music and digital campaigns for the company’s Carvaan brand.
Her experience spans radio, television, influencer marketing, digital strategy and artist management, reflecting the increasingly blended nature of music promotion in the streaming era.
With regional music and soundtrack consumption continuing to surge across platforms, Chhabra’s expanded role signals Universal Music Group’s growing focus on strengthening its streaming ecosystem and deepening audience engagement across language markets.
