Rasesh Upadhyay joins Sony Pictures Networks India as deputy CFO
Former JioStar strategy executive joins broadcaster to strengthen finance leadership
MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has appointed Rasesh Upadhyay as deputy chief financial officer, strengthening its finance leadership as the media company continues to focus on growth and business transformation.
Announcing the appointment on LinkedIn, SPNI said, “We are delighted to welcome Rasesh Upadhyay as Deputy Chief Financial Officer at Sony Pictures Networks India. With his extensive experience in finance, strategy and business transformation, we look forward to the leadership and expertise he brings as we continue to drive growth and innovation.”
Upadhyay joins SPNI from JioStar, where he served as head of strategy and operations for the entertainment business. In that role, he was part of the CEO’s office, helping shape strategy for the company’s entertainment business across linear television and digital platforms.
Prior to JioStar, he spent nearly 13 years at Star India as vice president, planning and treasury. There, he led financial planning, budgeting, business evaluation, vendor assessment and management reporting while partnering with business teams on strategic financial decisions.
Earlier in his career, Upadhyay was part of the founding finance team at Etisalat DB Telecom, contributing to the completion of Etisalat UAE’s investment in India. He also spent four years at Bharti Airtel, where he worked across revenue assurance, pricing and business planning for the Maharashtra and Goa circle.
A chartered accountant by qualification, Upadhyay also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Narsee Monjee College.
His appointment adds significant financial planning, strategy and business transformation expertise to SPNI’s leadership team as the company continues to strengthen its operations in India’s evolving media and entertainment landscape.
