Instamart names ex-Myntra chief Nandita Sinha as CEO after Amitesh Jha resigns
Swiggy bets on seasoned e-commerce leader to steer quick commerce business into next phase
Bengaluru: Instamart is changing gears at the top. Swiggy’s quick commerce business has appointed former Myntra chief executive Nandita Sinha as its new chief executive officer, replacing Amitesh Kumar Jha, who has stepped down to pursue opportunities outside the company.
Swiggy informed stock exchanges that Amitesh Kumar Jha resigned as chief executive officer of Instamart on July 28, 2026, ceasing to be a senior management personnel of the company from the same date.
The company also announced the appointment of Nandita Sinha as chief executive officer of Instamart with effect from August 3, 2026. She will also be designated as a senior management personnel of Swiggy from the date of her appointment.
Sinha joins Instamart from Myntra, where she served as chief executive officer and helped the fashion marketplace strengthen its market leadership after achieving EBITDA profitability in 2024. With more than two decades of experience, she has held leadership roles across consumer, retail and technology businesses, including at Flipkart, Britannia Industries and Hindustan Unilever. She is an alumna of IIT (BHU) and FMS Delhi.
Commenting on the appointment, Swiggy, managing director and group chief executive officer, Sriharsha Majety, said, “I am delighted to welcome Nandita Sinha as the CEO of Instamart. Nandita is one of India’s most accomplished consumer internet leaders, and I’m enthusiastic about the vision, customer obsession and operational rigor she brings to the team we’ve built at Instamart.”
Majety also thanked outgoing chief executive Amitesh Jha for his contribution to the business. “Amitesh has provided valuable leadership to Instamart, guiding the platform through a pivotal era of growth, doubling down on Instamart’s differentiation with launches like Noice, and steadily improving our contribution margin journey. Over his tenure, he has been instrumental in scaling Instamart through a critical growth phase, building a strong, high-performing culture, and leaving the organization in a solid, well-run state. We extend our best wishes to him for his future endeavours,” he said.
Speaking on her appointment, Instamart, chief executive officer, Nandita Sinha, said, “I have long admired what the team at Instamart has built. It’s a business with a strong customer-first culture, great talent and significant opportunities ahead. Instamart sits at the heart of how India shops for its everyday needs, and I look forward to working with our colleagues, partners and consumers to shape its next chapter of growth.”
In his resignation letter, Amitesh Jha said it had been “a privilege to lead Instamart during an important phase of its journey”. He thanked the board, leadership team and colleagues for their support and said he would ensure a smooth transition before pursuing opportunities outside the organisation.
Launched in August 2020, Instamart has grown into one of India’s leading quick commerce platforms and now operates in more than 131 cities. With Sinha at the helm, Swiggy is betting on experienced retail leadership to sharpen Instamart’s differentiated assortment strategy, improve profitability and sustain its growth momentum in India’s fiercely competitive quick commerce market.
