Disney names Terry Tsai to lead Disney+ marketing across APAC
Former Netflix executive and Apple veteran will oversee regional strategy, growth and partnerships from Tokyo
TOKYO: Disney has hired Terry Tsai to lead marketing for Disney+ across Asia Pacific, with the former Netflix executive and Apple veteran set to be based in Tokyo.
Tsai will oversee Disney+’s regional marketing strategy, growth and partnerships, according to Campaign Asia. The appointment comes as he departs Lime, where he served as regional director for Asia Pacific and country manager for Japan.
Tsai joined Lime in March 2024 as its Japan country manager before taking on the regional Asia Pacific role in September 2024. During his tenure, he said he helped build the company’s Asia business from the ground up, including an 8,000-vehicle fleet across five cities.
Before Lime, Tsai spent more than three years at Netflix as director and head of marketing partnerships for Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. His role covered marketing communications, acquisition partnerships and brand partnerships aimed at driving membership growth.
Tsai also spent 12 years at Apple, holding roles across Japan marketing, worldwide channel sales programmes and integrated customer experience. His experience included go-to-market strategy, customer experience, retail programmes and partnerships across multiple markets.
His appointment at Disney+ brings together experience spanning streaming, technology, consumer marketing and regional business development as the streaming service continues to compete across the diverse Asia Pacific market.
Tsai announced his departure from Lime on LinkedIn this week, thanking the team for building the company’s Asia business and saying he was moving on to his “next thing”.
