New digital campaign serves up a tender twist on motherhood and food love

MUMBAI: Barbeque Nation has rolled out a warm and food-filled campaign for Mother’s Day, celebrating a side of mums that often goes unnoticed: their unapologetic love for eating.

The digital film, released ahead of Mother’s Day, takes viewers into a lively restaurant setting where a mother fondly talks about her little daughter, Chutki, and her endless enthusiasm for food. From devouring plates of papdi chaat to getting excited over pani puri and craving extra kulfi, the child’s foodie personality quickly becomes the centre of the story.

But the film slowly reveals a playful twist. As the mother gleefully reaches for second helpings, steals bites and indulges in every craving herself, viewers discover that Chutki has not yet been born and is still in her mother’s womb.

The emotional reveal turns the story into a touching reflection on how food can become one of the earliest emotional bonds between a mother and child, even before birth.

Conceptualised by Makani Creatives and produced by STOM Productions, the campaign leans into humour, warmth and relatability while staying rooted in the restaurant brand’s larger message around shared food experiences.

Commenting on the campaign, Barbeque Nation chief marketing officer Nakul Gupta said mothers are often celebrated for cooking and caring for others, but their own relationship with food is rarely acknowledged.

He added that the idea of an expectant mother’s cravings offered a fresh and emotional lens through which to celebrate motherhood and connection.

The campaign has been launched across digital and social media platforms in six languages including Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Malayalam, allowing the brand to reach audiences across multiple regions.

With its mix of humour, cravings and emotional storytelling, the film reminds viewers that sometimes the quickest route to the heart is still through a second helping of chaat and kulfi.
