Abhishek B. exits JioStar
Senior director and agency partnerships leader bids farewell as he prepares for a new career chapter
New Delhi: Sometimes the final whistle signals more than the end of a match. For Abhishek B., it marks the close of a career chapter that spanned more than a decade with the Star network, culminating in his most recent role at JioStar.
Abhishek has stepped down from JioStar, where he most recently served as senior director and national head, agency partnerships (LTV) at JioStar Entertainment. He announced his departure in a heartfelt LinkedIn post, reflecting on the relationships and experiences that defined his journey.
“I handed over my laptop and closed one of the most meaningful chapters of my professional journey,” he wrote, adding that more than 60 per cent of his 21-year career had been spent with the Star family.
Rather than focusing on promotions or business milestones, Abhishek said it was the people he worked with who left the deepest impression. He credited leaders who believed in him, colleagues who challenged his thinking, teams that supported his growth, and partners who transformed professional relationships into lasting friendships.
“Every meaningful relationship leaves us with a gift,” he wrote, noting that those around him had taught him confidence, humility, resilience and empathy. He added that these experiences shaped not only his career but also his values, leadership style and character.
Abhishek joined the Star network in 2013 as sales manager at Star India after a stint at Bloomberg TV India. During his initial three-year tenure, he worked on advertising solutions for the broadcaster’s sports business across television and digital platforms.
He briefly moved to ITW Consulting Pvt. Ltd. as general manager in early 2017 before returning to the Star fold later that year as manager, ad sales, sports at Star Sports.
Over the following years, he steadily climbed the ranks, becoming senior manager, associate director and later associate director for the sports business. In June 2025, following the integration into JioStar, he transitioned to the entertainment business to lead strategic agency partnerships. Just a few months later, in November 2025, he was redesignated as senior director to spearhead the next phase of linear television agency partnerships.
In his farewell message, Abhishek said he leaves with more than professional experience. “I leave with friendships. I leave with memories. I leave with lessons. I leave with immense gratitude,” he wrote, thanking everyone whose path had crossed his over the years.
While he has not yet revealed his next destination, his departure brings the curtain down on one of the longest tenures within the Star network, closing a chapter built on sports broadcasting, advertising partnerships and media leadership, while opening the door to a new professional innings.
