MUMBAI: Looks like Cupid has swapped arrows for horoscopes. Tinder is taking astrology off the screen and onto the streets, launching a Mumbai campaign that explores how zodiac signs are increasingly shaping first impressions, flirting and even dating decisions among young singles. The dating platform has rolled out Astro Awards, a creator-led street campaign inspired by its in-app Astrology Mode, turning everyday conversations into social experiments around compatibility, attraction and star signs.

Creators Prannay Joshi and Jinal Modi took to the streets of Mumbai to ask strangers how much faith they place in the zodiac when it comes to romance. The campaign captures candid conversations where participants debate which signs make ideal partners, label some as “green forests” or “red flags”, and, in some cases, even agree to dates based solely on astrological compatibility. The initiative builds on Tinder’s growing focus on personality-led discovery. Through Astrology Mode, users can showcase their Sun, Moon and Rising signs while viewing compatibility insights with potential matches, adding another layer to the dating experience beyond profiles and photographs.

Alongside the campaign, Tinder unveiled findings from its in-app Astro Awards survey, highlighting how users associate different zodiac signs with distinct dating personalities.

According to the survey, Sagittarius emerged as the winner of the “Green Forest Award”, while Leo was dubbed the “Serial Ghoster Award” recipient. Aries earned the title of “Delusional Dater”, Scorpio was named the “Kalesh Magnet”, Pisces took home the “Blind in Love Award”, and Libra received the “Maska Maar Award”. The survey also crowned Aquarius as the biggest “Over-Overthinker”, Gemini with the “512GB Award” for seemingly storing endless memories, Taurus with the “Coconut Award”, Capricorn as the “Professional Adult”, Cancer with the “Kyu Nahi Ho Raha Move On?” award, and Virgo as “50% Pookie, 50% Freaky.”

Tinder said the street interactions closely mirrored patterns emerging from its in-app survey, reflecting how astrology has evolved from a niche interest into a popular conversation starter among young daters. By taking zodiac discussions beyond smartphones and into real-world interactions, the company is betting that, for many singles, compatibility may now begin with the stars before the first swipe.
