This weekend’s OTT lineup brings action, romance and thrilling finales

MUMBAI: Your weekend watchlist has officially clocked in before you have. From haunted palaces and gothic romances to high-octane thrillers and emotional farewells, streaming platforms are rolling out a packed slate of new releases, ensuring there’s something for every kind of binge-watcher.

Leading this week’s OTT arrivals are Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi’s Wuthering Heights, Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s action thriller Maa Inti Bangaaram, Anya Taylor-Joy’s crime drama Lucky and the feature-length finale of Netflix favourite Heartstopper. Korean fantasy, political crime sagas, sports comedy and historical adventures complete a diverse weekend lineup across Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, JioHotstar, Apple TV+ and Amazon MX Player.

Netflix kicks off the week with The East Palace, a Korean fantasy drama blending royal intrigue with supernatural horror. The series follows a king who recruits an unlikely team—including a ghost hunter and a court lady capable of hearing spirits—to uncover the mystery behind a deadly curse threatening the royal family. Starring Cho Seung-woo, Nam Joo-hyuk and Roh Yoon-seo, the series mixes folklore, suspense and palace politics.

Prime Video adds a dose of action and humour with Ride or Die, starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham. The action-comedy follows two women forced to flee after a mission goes disastrously wrong, turning them into unlikely partners navigating conspiracies, relentless pursuers and unexpected friendship.

Netflix also bids farewell to one of its most beloved young-adult franchises with Heartstopper Forever. The feature-length finale sees Nick and Charlie confront adulthood, university plans and the challenges of long-distance love, while revisiting the friendships that have made the series a global fan favourite.

On JioHotstar, literary classic Wuthering Heights receives a fresh adaptation led by Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Based on Emily Brontë’s novel, the film revisits the turbulent relationship between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, exploring themes of love, obsession, class and heartbreak against a brooding gothic backdrop.

Crime drama fans can head to Amazon MX Player, where Raktanchal Season 3 marks the conclusion of the political gangster saga. Set in early-2000s Uttar Pradesh, the final season reunites Vijay Singh and Waseem Khan for one last power struggle as shifting alliances and fresh political players reshape the battlefield.

Comedy arrives on Netflix with The Hawk, starring Will Ferrell as former golfing star Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, whose comeback bid creates friction within his own family. Blending sport, humour and redemption, the film centres on an ageing athlete determined to prove he still belongs.

Netflix also premieres Desire, a Mexican psychological thriller following Lucero, a successful lawyer whose secret affair with her daughter’s swimming coach unravels her carefully constructed life. Starring Ludwika Paleta and Óscar Casas, the film explores betrayal, hidden relationships and the consequences of forbidden choices.

Over on Apple TV+, Lucky, adapted from Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel, stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a woman attempting to escape her criminal past. When old secrets resurface, she is forced into one final confrontation that blends emotional drama with edge-of-the-seat suspense.

Indian audiences can also stream Maa Inti Bangaaram on JioHotstar, where Samantha Ruth Prabhu plays Swarna, a former assassin drawn back into violence after enemies from her past threaten the family she fought to protect. The Telugu action thriller combines stylish combat with an emotionally driven revenge story.

Completing Netflix’s slate is Golden Kamuy: Assault on Abashiri Prison, the latest instalment in the popular Japanese franchise. As Sugimoto and Asirpa mount a daring prison assault in search of the legendary Ainu gold, they edge closer to uncovering long-buried secrets while rival treasure hunters close in.
