MUMBAI: Looks like Taarkata has found the sharpest edge in Bengal’s streaming race. Five weeks after its debut, the thriller continues to hold on to the top spot, proving that strong storytelling can enjoy a much longer shelf life than a launch weekend.

VC Films’ maiden production, Taarkata, has emerged as the No. 1 trending Bengali web series across OTT platforms for the fifth consecutive week, according to the company. Streaming on ZEE5, the series has maintained strong audience engagement and sustained viewership, underscoring the growing appetite for premium regional content.

Blending dark comedy, action, suspense, psychological drama and mystery, Taarkata has stood out for its layered narrative, cinematic treatment and unpredictable plot twists, helping it generate steady digital traction and word-of-mouth well beyond its release.

The series features Vikram Chatterjee in the lead alongside Meiyang Chang, who takes on his first negative role in Bengali entertainment. Priyanka Sarkar also plays a pivotal role, with the ensemble cast contributing to the show’s critical and audience reception.

Unlike many OTT releases that experience a surge at launch before tapering off, Taarkata has retained its momentum for five consecutive weeks, continuing to dominate conversations across streaming and social media.

The performance marks a strong debut for VC Films, which has entered the Bengali OTT space with its first original production. The sustained run suggests that regional audiences are increasingly rewarding distinctive, genre-driven storytelling alongside mainstream entertainment.
