Shemaroo Filmi Gaane crosses 75 million YouTube subscribers
Channel enters global Top 10 music channels with 10,000 plus songs and 300m monthly views
MUMBAI: The numbers are singing a familiar tune, as Shemaroo Filmi Gaane has crossed 75 million YouTube subscribers, putting the Shemaroo Entertainment flagship channel among the global Top 10 music channels.
The milestone underlines the staying power of Hindi film music in the digital era, where songs from different decades continue to find listeners across generations and geographies. From old favourites resurfacing in new playlists to younger audiences discovering classics for the first time, the channel’s latest subscriber count reflects how Bollywood’s musical memory continues to travel.
To mark the 75 million milestone, Shemaroo Filmi Gaane has released a brand film built around the thought, “Safar alag, kisse alag… Gaane aaj bhi wahi.” The film follows people from different walks of life, including an auto passenger, a working woman in a cab, a barbershop customer, a student studying at home, a couple spending time together and a retirement celebration.
Running through these otherwise unrelated moments is “Chala Jata Hoon, Kisi Dhun Mein”, connecting the characters through a song that has outlived the circumstances in which it was first heard. The 75 million subscriber reveal arrives at the end, turning the individual stories into a larger picture of a shared musical connection.
Saurabh Srivastava, COO – Digital Business, Shemaroo Entertainment, said the milestone reflects the enduring connection audiences have with Hindi film music. He noted that songs from decades ago can be both newly discovered by younger listeners and tied to memories for those who grew up with them.
The channel is also using the milestone to spotlight the people behind the music with ‘Celebrating 75 Music Legends’, a new 15-episode YouTube IP. The series will pay tribute to 75 singers, composers and lyricists who have shaped Hindi film music, with each episode featuring five legends through stories, trivia and memorable songs.
The scale of the catalogue helps explain the channel’s long musical runway. Shemaroo Filmi Gaane houses more than 10,000 iconic songs spanning the golden era of the 1950s through to contemporary Hindi cinema, giving older classics and newer discoveries space under the same digital roof.
The channel currently draws 300 million views every month, while Shemaroo Entertainment’s wider YouTube network has more than 100 channels covering Bollywood, regional, devotional, kids’ entertainment and other genres. Collectively, that network attracts 3 billion views a month.
With 75 million subscribers now on the board, Shemaroo Filmi Gaane’s latest milestone suggests that while the way audiences discover music may keep changing, some songs clearly know how to stay in tune.
