Zee Entertainment names Sanket Rassa as director and OAP head for sports creative services

MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises has appointed Sanket Rassa as director and on-air promotions head for sports creative services, bringing in one of India’s most experienced broadcast creative professionals to shape the visual and promotional identity of its growing sports portfolio.

Rassa arrives with more than 20 years of on-air promotions, channel branding and creative production experience spanning some of the most prominent names in Indian and international broadcasting. Most recently, he served as OAP lead for sports at Sportz Interactive, working across JioCinema and Sports18, before which he was creative director at Prime Focus Technologies for nearly three years.

His earlier career reads like a tour of Indian sports broadcasting’s formative years. He spent five years at Star India, rising to executive director of on-air promotions for Star Sports, having previously served as associate executive producer across Star Sports and Fox Action Movies. Before that, he was supervising producer at UTV and, earlier still, spent nearly six years as senior producer at Ten Sports in Dubai, one of the region’s most significant sports broadcasting operations of that era. He has also worked at Zee Music as a producer and at ETC Networks as associate producer.

His specialisms are as practical as they are creative: channel launches, rebranding exercises, on-air idents, channel packaging and scheduling. He led brand development for Ten Sports, Noor Dubai and UTV Action, building integrated on-air looks and creative values for each from the ground up.

Zee is in the middle of one of its most ambitious sports pushes in years, with Unite8 Sports freshly launched and the FIFA World Cup 2026 rights secured. The timing of Rassa’s appointment is no accident.

With a creative head of this calibre now in place, Zee’s sports channels should start looking the part very quickly.
