Zee Entertainment receives MCA notice seeking information
Notice follows ongoing inspection under Companies Act and seeks further explanations
MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment’s corporate plot has picked up another chapter, with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) seeking more information from the company as part of an ongoing inspection. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has disclosed that it received a notice from the MCA on October 5, 2026, seeking certain information about the company. The notice has been issued under Section 210(1)(a) and (c) of the Companies Act, 2013, and comes in continuation of an ongoing inspection being carried out under Section 206(5) of the Act.
The company made the disclosure to the stock exchanges on October 6 under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, as amended. The filing was addressed to both BSE and the National Stock Exchange, where Zee Entertainment is listed under BSE scrip code 505537 and NSE symbol ZEEL EQ.
According to the filing, the MCA communication is part of the continuing inspection rather than a separate action announced against the company. Zee said it has already provided the information sought so far and will provide any further information and explanations requested by the ministry.
The disclosure identifies the authority as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, through the Office of the Regional Director, Western Region II. The office is located at Everest, 5th and 6th Floor, 100 Marine Drive, Mumbai, Maharashtra – 400002.
The annexure attached to the stock exchange filing describes the nature of the action as an investigation under Section 210(1)(a) and (c) of the Companies Act, 2013. It records October 5, 2026 as the date on which the direction or communication was received by the company.
Importantly, the filing lists the details of the alleged violation or contravention simply as “calling for information”. It does not quantify any financial, operational or other impact on Zee Entertainment, with the company marking the impact as “Not Applicable” in the annexure.
The development therefore centres on information being sought from the company during the regulatory inspection. The filing itself does not disclose the specific information requested by the MCA, nor does it set out any monetary penalty, financial impact or other order against Zee Entertainment.
Zee’s latest disclosure comes as part of its continuing regulatory reporting obligations. The company said the additional details required under Regulation 30, read with the SEBI circular dated January 30, 2026, have been provided in the attached Annexure A.
The company has also told the exchanges that it will continue to provide information and explanations sought by the MCA. For now, the filing records the matter as an ongoing regulatory process focused on information gathering, with no quantifiable financial impact disclosed.
