Sony Sports, Sony LIV unveil expert panel for Women’s Asia Cup 2026
Mithali Raj, Anjum Chopra and others will lead five-language coverage from August 28
MUMBAI: The Women’s Asia Cup is set to get a star-studded commentary box. Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV have announced their expert panel and multilingual commentary line-up for the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2026, which begins on August 28.
The tournament will run until September 13, bringing together leading women’s cricket teams from across Asia. Coverage will feature a panel of former international cricketers and cricket experts, led by former India captain Mithali Raj.
She will be joined by former India captain and ICC Hall of Famer Anjum Chopra, former India players Veda Krishnamurthy, Reema Malhotra, Niranjana Nagarajan and Sunitha Anand, along with former India women’s cricket team coach W.V. Raman.
The wider commentary panel will also feature former Sri Lanka cricketer Farveez Maharoof, Sana Mir, Marina Iqbal, Ahmed Raza and Mazhar Uddin, among others.
Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV will offer commentary in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, expanding the tournament’s reach across Indian audiences.
The English panel will include Annesha Ghosh, Veda Krishnamurthy, Sana Mir, Marina Iqbal, Charvi Bhatt, Ahmed Raza, Mazhar Uddin and Farveez Maharoof.
Hindi coverage will feature Reema Malhotra, Vivek Razdan, Atish Thukral, Nishad Pai Vaidya, Paul Valthaty, Yash Pathak, Juili Ballal and Gargi Raut.
W.V. Raman, Niranjana Nagarajan, Shailaja Sunder and Sai Raaghul will be part of the Tamil commentary team, while Telugu coverage will feature Keerthi Vishwanadha, Sunitha Anand, Hari Kishore Maladi, Akhilesh G and Surya Pranav.
Kannada commentary will be handled by Sahana Pawar, Sharath HS and Dhanush Lavanya.
The network’s flagship studio show, Extraaa Innings, will serve as the central studio for the tournament. Mithali Raj, Anjum Chopra, W.V. Raman, Reema Malhotra, Tanya Purohit and Gargi Raut will feature in the studio line-up.
The programming will include pre-match analysis, mid-innings insights and post-match reviews, alongside player match-ups and tactical discussions.
The India-Pakistan clash on September 5 is expected to be one of the key attractions of the tournament.
The group-stage action begins with Thailand taking on Hong Kong on August 28, followed by Sri Lanka versus UAE on August 29 and India’s opening match against Thailand on August 30.
India will then face Hong Kong on September 3 before the much-anticipated India-Pakistan encounter on September 5.
The semi-finals are scheduled for September 10 and 11, with the final set for September 13. All matches will begin at 8 pm and will be available across Sony Sports Network’s television channels and Sony LIV.
With former players providing analysis and commentary across five languages, Sony is positioning the tournament as a broader cricket-viewing experience, combining live action with tactical breakdowns and regional-language coverage.
