MUMBAI: Primetime on News18 India is getting a fresh spin, and this time it is not just changing the clock, it is changing the conversation. With a neatly structured eight-hour evening slate, the channel is aiming to turn its broadcast window into a continuous news journey that blends depth, speed and context.

The revamped lineup brings together some of Hindi television’s most recognisable anchors, each assigned a distinct editorial lane. The idea is simple but ambitious, to ensure that every hour of primetime carries a different lens on the news cycle, while still feeling part of one connected narrative.

The evening opens at 3:45 PM with Command Centre, anchored by Major Gaurav Arya. Built around geopolitics and security affairs, the show leans on Arya’s military background to decode complex strategic developments in a format that aims to be accessible without losing analytical weight.

At 4:50 PM, Goonj sees Arpita Arya return with a sharper, more conversational news format. The programme focuses on cutting through competing narratives and identifying stories that resonate with younger, digitally engaged audiences who consume news across platforms and timelines.

The 5:50 PM slot belongs to Bhaiyaji Kahin, fronted by Prateek Trivedi. The show is designed to bring voices from outside the studio into the mainstream conversation, relying on field reporting and public interaction to surface issues that often begin at the grassroots before entering national discourse.

At 6:50 PM, Aar Paar, anchored by Amish Devgan, continues its high-energy political format. Known for shaping intense debates and framing national discussions, the programme remains a central pillar of the channel’s primetime identity.

The 7:50 PM window features Sau Baat Ki Ek Baat, hosted by Kishore Ajwani. The show focuses on connecting wider patterns across multiple developments, offering viewers a stitched-together view of events that may otherwise appear unrelated. Its weekend editions extend into longer interviews with prominent newsmakers.

At 8:50 PM, Desh Ki Pathshala, anchored by Sushant Sinha, shifts the tone towards explanatory journalism. The programme is built around breaking down complex stories into clear, structured narratives that answer not just what happened, but why it matters and how it unfolded.

The primetime block concludes at 10:00 PM with Desh Nahi Jhukne Denge, hosted by Aman Chopra. The show retains its strong identity rooted in assertive debate and national sentiment, continuing to attract audiences looking for high-intensity political discourse.

Overseeing the broader editorial vision, Jyoti Kamal described the revamp as a deliberate attempt to strengthen narrative continuity across the evening. The emphasis, according to the leadership, is on ensuring that each programme contributes to a larger editorial architecture rather than functioning in isolation.

Taken together, the new primetime structure reflects a calculated attempt to balance multiple news formats within a single viewing arc. From strategy and politics to field reporting and explanatory storytelling, the lineup aims to keep viewers engaged while offering multiple entry points into the same evolving news cycle.
