Mohanlal channels Chanakya in Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8 promo
Three-minute gangster-themed promo teases strategy, democracy and consequences ahead of September 6 premiere
MUMBAI: This time, the Bigg Boss game comes with a little Chanakya in the mix. Mohanlal steps into the shoes of the ancient strategist in the latest promo for Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8, turning a three-minute gangster-themed film into a lesson in persuasion, plotting and punishment. The new season premieres on September 6.
The promo arrives with the tagline “Winning is not enough, you have to keep winning”, setting the tone for a season where contestants will have to survive the entire 100 days, rather than simply clinching individual victories along the way.
Breaking from the usual reality-show promo template, the film plays out like a mini cinematic thriller. Mohanlal is kidnapped by a criminal gang and must find a way out, but instead of relying solely on brute force, he reaches for the four strategies associated with Chanakya, Sama, Dana, Bheda and Danda.
First comes Sama, with Mohanlal attempting to resolve the situation through persuasion. When words alone do not do the trick, Dana enters the picture through the offer of rewards. He then turns to Bheda, creating differences within the gang and using division to shift the balance in his favour.
The final card is Danda, or punishment, as Mohanlal makes it clear that those who refuse to fall in line may have to deal with a more forceful approach.
Beyond the cinematic twists, the promo also drops clues about the mechanics of the upcoming season. The Bigg Boss house is set to operate on democratic principles, with contestants collectively deciding whom to eliminate or defeat through a majority decision.
That also means choices inside the house are unlikely to come without consequences. The promo suggests that contestants will have to think beyond individual moves, with their decisions potentially influencing how the game unfolds.
The season will also bring contestants selected through the Agni Pareeksha process to find the Commoner into the Bigg Boss Malayalam house.
With a new gameplay structure, strategic twists and a promo that swaps the usual reality-show formula for a gangster caper, Season 8 is positioning the Bigg Boss house as a place where staying in the game could require more than just winning, it could require knowing when to persuade, when to divide and when to strike.
