MUMBAI: In a television landscape increasingly embracing meaningful storytelling, COLORS has launched ‘Juhi Mui’, a drama that puts autism and inclusion at the centre of its narrative. Premiering on June 29, the show follows the journey of an autistic young woman as she navigates societal prejudice while discovering her own strengths.

The series revolves around Juhi Suri, played by Eisha Singh, whose exceptional memory, sharp analytical skills and ability to recall legal provisions make her stand out. However, despite her brilliance, Juhi constantly faces judgement from a society that struggles to accept those who think and communicate differently.

Raised in a family deeply rooted in the legal profession, Juhi grows up observing her father Rajendra Suri, portrayed by Sanjay Suri, a respected lawyer who runs his own practice. While her father remains fiercely protective of her and her brother Karan, played by Krushag Ghuge, considers her a genius, Juhi finds an unlikely ally in Inspector Sanyam Singh, essayed by Vijayendra Kumeria, who treats her with empathy rather than sympathy.

The story also features Sai Deodhar as Suchitra Suri and Ayub Khan as Uttam Suri, forming the family that shapes Juhi’s world. Blending legal drama with emotional storytelling, the series raises an important question: should people be expected to change to fit society, or should society evolve to become more inclusive?

Speaking about portraying Juhi, Eisha Singh said the role has been one of the most challenging and fulfilling experiences of her career.

“It required me to completely reinvent my approach by relying on subtle expressions, physical nuances and silence to express Juhi’s rich inner world. More than anything, I want audiences to look beyond labels and see an exceptionally intelligent young woman who experiences love, joy and sorrow like everyone else. This story is about inclusion, dignity and recognising the power autistic individuals have to enrich society,” she said.

For Vijayendra Kumeria, the show marks his first on-screen role as a police officer. He described Inspector Sanyam Singh as a grounded and emotionally honest character who believes compassion comes from individuals rather than systems.

“Through Sanyam, the show reminds us that empathy is not about polished words but about standing by people and refusing to look away from injustice. I hope audiences see ‘Juhi Mui’ not just as a legal thriller but as a story that challenges our understanding of strength, justice and inclusion,” he said.

With autism awareness gradually finding greater space in mainstream entertainment, ‘Juhi Mui’ aims to spark conversations around neurodiversity while delivering an emotionally engaging family drama. The series premiered on June 29 and airs every Monday to Friday at 9:30 pm on COLORS, with streaming available on JioHotstar.
