NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies, has opened enrolment for a national AI skilling programme aimed at the creative sector, offering 15,000 scholarships to emerging talent.

Developed in partnership with Google and YouTube, the initiative targets professionals and aspirants in media, entertainment, animation, gaming and digital storytelling, equipping them with industry-relevant artificial intelligence skills.

The programme is structured in two phases. The first phase focuses on foundational learning, where selected participants will undergo around 33 hours of online training through Google Career Certificates and Google Cloud’s generative AI learning paths. The curriculum covers core concepts such as AI fundamentals, prompting techniques and responsible AI practices.

Those who complete the initial stage will move to a second, more advanced phase that emphasises practical application. Delivered through a hybrid model, this stage includes project-based learning in storytelling, creative production and the use of advanced AI tools. The curriculum has been co-developed by IICT and YouTube, incorporating platform best practices to help participants enhance content reach and engagement.

The programme will also be supported by the AI Skills House platform, offering structured learning tracks across generative AI, workflow automation and decision-making tools. The aim is to combine technical capability with creative application, building a workforce ready for real-world deployment in content creation and production.

Speaking on the initiative, Indian Institute of Creative Technologies CEO Vishwas Deoskar said the programme is designed to address a clear national requirement by preparing creative professionals for practical use of AI across content creation, production and distribution.
