&pictures celebrates Naye India Ka Naya Josh with the Independence Day premiere of Uri: The Surgical Strike on Thursday, 15th August at 3 PM
MUMBAI: As the nation gears up to celebrate its 73rd Independence Day, &pictures – Naye India Ka Blockbuster Movie Channel, will premiere Uri: The Surgical strike on Thursday, 15th August 2019 at 3 PM. It was a historic moment in Indian history that was executed with complete precision while also sending the world a message: India will no longer shy away from a fight. The 2016 surgical strike was the dawn of a very vocal India that led to a universal shift in perception of the country. Directed by the debutant Aditya Dhar the movie features an ensemble cast comprising of Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal and Kirti Kulhari in key roles along with Mohit Raina who made his Bollywood debut. Leading them all is Major Vihaan Singh Shergill played by none other than Vicky Kaushal.
The film reflects the sentiment that the entire nation felt in 2016, when four heavily armed militants ambushed the brigade headquarters at Uri and mercilessly killed 19 soldiers in their sleep. Be it avenging the deaths of fellow soldiers, or going ahead and occupying what is rightly ours; Uri: The Surgical Strike is representative of a Brave New India. An example of these emotions can be seen when Vihaan says, “Yeh Hindustan ab chup nahin baithega. Yeh naya Hindustan hai. Yeh ghar main ghusega bhi aur maarega bhi”
Vicky Kaushal who plays the character of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill in the film said, “Uri is a very special film for me and our idea was to give tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. The soldiers give up their today for our tomorrow and no words can signify or repay the sacrifices they make for our country. The way audiences have resonated with the emotion of patriotism, valour and sacrifices of our armed forces has been amazing. As artists, that is the biggest takeaway for us. Fans who missed watching the movie in the theatres can catch the Independence Day Premiere of Uri on &pictures and I hope they will enjoy it.”
Yami Gautam who essays the role of an intelligence officer in the movie shared, “Uri is a very important film to me. We could literally feel patriotism surge in us with each scene we performed. There are films that one looks back as part of their filmography, and Uri is that one film which surpasses success for me; it will always stay with me. As a matter of fact, Uri inspired so many youngsters out there to join the Indian army. That is the power of cinema today. As the film premieres on &pictures this Independence Day, I really hope that people get an opportunity to watch it and understand the sacrifices of our brave hearts who keep us safe every day.”
Seen for the first time on the big screen, Mohit Raina said, “My instant reaction on being offered the role of Captain Karan Kashyap was only to be associated with a story of this kind. When I heard about a film being made on URI, I knew it won’t be made again. And given the sort of platform and visuals Aditya had in mind, I gauged the reach and respect it would get almost immediately after release. It is still talked about as one of the best war drama films made in Bollywood so far!”
Aditya Dhar the director of Uri said, “I am honored with the kind of love and response that Uri has received since its release. As a team, we would often discuss that if we were able to inspire even a single person to join the Defence Services after seeing the film, we would consider the purpose of making Uri served. I hope the movie continues to inspire young Indians to go ahead and dream big.”
The plot revolves around Major Vihaan Singh Shergill (Vicky Kaushal), a brave and determined officer. After a successful mission Vihaan wishes to retire from the army life; but soon finds himself torn between serving his ailing mother and his motherland. Govind Bharadwaj (Paresh Rawal), the National Security Advisor appoints Major Vihaan for the highly secretive operation planned under the guidance of the Prime Minister of India (Rajit Kapur). The movie is further divided into five chapters leading to the final one – the Surgical Strike. The film details the operation, showcasing the task force led by Major Vihaan, manoeuvre through the heart of the valley, into the PoK zone which is infiltrated by terrorist camps. One can feel a burgeoning sense of suspense and tension once the operation commences. From the dialogues, to the background music, each element of the film will strike a chord somewhere in you, that will fill your heart with patriotic sentiment and fervour.
