Hallmark secures 18 Emmy nominations – lines up showcase of nominated movies

MUMBAI: The Crown Media Holdings owned Hallmark Channel has every reason to rejoice. The channel has secured 18 nominations for the 55th Annual Emmy Awards 2003 and has lined up a showcase of the nominated movies in the coming months. The awards are slated to take place at the Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on 21 September.
Out of the 18 odd Emmy nominations, leading the pack with five nominations is Tennessee William’s Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone. Next with four nominations is Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune, while Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story has bagged three nominations. Soldier’s Girl has two nominations to its credit, followed by A Painted House, Gleason, Monte Walsh and Out of the Ashes with one nomination each.
Of these nominations, A Painted House and Gleason happen to be Hallmark Entertainment Original Productions. Others from the Hallmark stable to have been nominated or awarded in the past include Dinotopia, The Rosa Parks Story, Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story, Anne Rice’s The Feast of All Saints, Alice in Wonderland, Cleopatra, The Temptations, Moby Dick, Merlin, Gulliver’s Travels, Odyssey, What the Deaf Man Heard, Scarlett, To Dance with the White Dog, A Place for Annie, Aftershock (Part 1), Animal Farm, Arabian Nights (Part 2), A Christmas Carol, Don Quixote, Jason and the Argonauts, P. T. Barnum, The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns, and The 10th Kingdom et al.
Apart from movies, Hallmark also has its share in the nominations for drama series. My Big Fat Greek Life has been nominated for this year’s Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera Series while Farrah Fawcett who put in a special guest appearance in The Guardian has been nominated for the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. The Guardian and My Big Fat Greek Life will be aired on the Hallmark Channel in October and November respectively.

Zee5 launches five free FAST channels on Samsung TV Plus India

New genre-led channels bring comedy, drama, horror, classics and South films to Smart TVs.

MUMBAI: Zee5 just turned Samsung Smart TVs into a free entertainment buffet because when premium content costs nothing, even the remote control starts smiling. Zee5 has launched five curated free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels on Samsung TV Plus India, making high-quality, genre-specific entertainment available subscription-free to millions of Samsung Smart TV owners across the country.

The five channels now live are:

Zee Comedy Nation – Popular comedy shows and movies
Zee Dil Se – Compelling drama series
ZEE Horror Nights – Horror and supernatural content
ZEE Cine Classic – Timeless Indian films
ZEE South Flix – High-energy South Indian films dubbed in Hindi
All content is drawn from Zee5’s extensive library and programmed in a lean-back, always-on format ideal for large-screen viewing. This launch strengthens Zee5’s Connected TV strategy at a time when 64 per cent of its premium content watch time already comes from connected devices.

Zee5 chief business officer Siju Prabhakaran said, “At Zee5, we believe accessibility and scale will define the next phase of digital entertainment growth in India. The channels are available directly through the pre-installed Samsung TV Plus app with no login or subscription required. This marks another milestone in Zee5’s CTV expansion and builds on its growing international presence, with Zee channels already available on Samsung TV Plus across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
