MUMBAI: Bangladesh is looking for quality kids’ television content and the country’s first step in this direction is the establishment of the Children’s Television Foundation of Bangladesh (CTFB).

The CTFB plans to produce all types of programming for the interest of the children and will telecast these programmes via the electronic media in the country and overseas.

The non-profit organisation will work together with the country’s television networks to develop innovative children’s programming. In addition, it will also provide training for writers, directors and producers of children’s shows.

The organisation also plans to undertake production-oriented research and evaluation on children’s programming, organise a children’s TV summit in Bangladesh every two years and introduce an award to encourage quality children’s products.

States CTFB secretary Fahmidul Islam has been quoted in media reports as saying that, the CTFB is meant to be a platform for Bangladeshi children to voice their concerns on the country’s social and economic development. “The CTFB will allow the children to best utilise their latent talent by allowing them to participate actively in various socio-economic programmes,” he said.
