Eros Innovation unveils Brahmand mythology universe and expands film franchises
New slate includes mythological epics, franchise expansions and remastered classics
MUMBAI: Indian entertainment and technology company Eros Innovation has unveiled an ambitious expansion plan that combines film production, artificial intelligence and franchise storytelling, backed by a £265 million commitment to the United Kingdom.
The announcement was made during London Tech Week, where the company revealed three major creative initiatives and a slate of 15 productions designed to bridge entertainment, technology and cultural heritage.
At the centre of the announcement is the licensing of Eros’ cultural dataset, independently valued at US$1.7 billion by OxValue.AI in association with the University of Oxford, to its UK operations. The move is intended to establish what the company describes as a sovereign-grade cultural artificial intelligence capability in Britain.
Speaking about the initiative, Eros Innovation co-president Swaneet Singh, said, “What we are bringing to Britain is not an office, and it is not an investment. It is a sovereign-grade cultural artificial intelligence capability, one of the world’s largest rights-cleared cultural datasets, the AI Studio that will operate on it, and a long-term partnership with British data, British talent and British institutions to build what comes next together.”
He added that cultural AI would play a defining role in how people create, learn and preserve knowledge over the next decade, describing Britain as the ideal location to develop the initiative.
A major pillar of the strategy is Eros Brahmand, a mythology-inspired cinematic universe featuring nine interconnected original productions rooted in Indian mythology and folklore. The slate includes Nandi: War of Kailasa, Dwaarka: Gateway to the Universe, Vimaan Wars, Mahabharat 5000 A.D., Yakshinis, Brahmarakshak, Garuda, Kumbhayanna and Mansa Devi.
The company believes the interconnected universe will create a long-form storytelling ecosystem comparable to some of the world’s most recognised franchise models, while drawing from distinctly Indian cultural narratives.
Alongside the mythology universe, Eros unveiled Eros Universe, a franchise expansion initiative that revisits beloved Indian film properties through new stories, characters and formats. The programme will extend the worlds of Tere Naam, Tanu Weds Manu, English Vinglish, Desi Boyz, Rangeela and Phobia across films, animation, microdramas and character-driven content.
Among the first projects is Tanu Weds Manu: The Next Chapter, which will be directed by Mitakshara Kumar and co-produced with Rudrak Soma Jyoti Limited. Production is expected to begin in 2026.
The third creative pillar, Eros Remastered, aims to introduce classic films to younger audiences through restoration and reinvention. The programme will launch with Kochadaiiyaan, originally recognised as India’s first motion-capture feature film. The reimagined version will be developed under the creative leadership of Soundarya Rajinikanth.
The UK government welcomed the investment as a sign of growing collaboration between Britain and India in emerging sectors such as AI, technology and creative industries.
Department for Science, Innovation and Technology parliamentary under-secretary of state, Kanishka Narayan, said, “India is a vital partner for the UK and we have huge ambition to unlock more opportunities together across key industries like AI, tech and the creative sector. This commitment by Eros Innovation is proof that we can aim higher, and go further, when we work together. It’s a vote of confidence in Britain’s creatives and our tech sector.”
Meanwhile, Eros Innovation co-founder and co-president, Ridhima Lulla, who also serves as chief executive of Eros Brahmand Studios, said, “Storytelling has always evolved alongside technology, but the heart of every great story remains imagination, emotion, and human creativity. Through Eros Brahmand, Eros Universe, and Eros Remastered, we are building something that has never before been attempted at this scale, a new creative ecosystem powered by AI, rooted in culture, and designed to bring stories to audiences in entirely new ways. We are proud to be building it from London.”
With a major investment commitment, an expansive content pipeline and a bold push into cultural AI, Eros Innovation is positioning itself at the intersection of entertainment and technology. Whether through mythological worlds, revived film franchises or AI-powered creative tools, the company is betting that the future of storytelling will be shaped as much by innovation as by imagination.
