Avengers Endgame re release gets Iron Man popcorn buckets
Re release hits cinemas September 25 with five minutes of new footage and two collectibles
MUMBAI: Avengers: Endgame is returning to cinemas, and this time the popcorn is getting its own superhero moment. Marvel’s upcoming re-release of the 2019 blockbuster will arrive with two new Iron Man-themed popcorn buckets, giving fans something to take home alongside the extra footage.
One bucket is shaped like Iron Man’s helmet, complete with a projection that reads “I love you 3,000”. The second recreates the Infinity Gauntlet as worn by Iron Man, referencing the climactic sacrifice in which Tony Stark uses the stones to defeat Thanos.
Tickets for the re-release are already on sale, with the film returning to theatres on September 25. The new version will include roughly five minutes of additional footage, although Marvel has yet to reveal exactly what fans will see.
The extra material is expected to lead directly into Avengers: Doomsday, giving the re-release more purpose than simply revisiting one of the MCU’s biggest films. Possibilities include an introduction to Doctor Doom or a set-up for what happens to Captain America after his ending in Endgame. Chris Evans is set to reprise his role as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday and most likely Avengers: Secret Wars as well.
Marvel is also using the re-release to introduce audiences to its ‘Infinity Vision’ branding. The initiative is designed to identify cinemas and auditoriums that meet Disney and Marvel’s preferred quality standards, rather than representing a new theatrical format.
Endgame will be available in IMAX as well as Infinity Vision-certified screens, while Avengers: Doomsday is currently not scheduled for an IMAX release when it arrives in December.
That, however, may not be the final word on IMAX for Doomsday. Spider-Man: Brand New Day received a delayed IMAX release that was not heavily promoted beforehand and subsequently encouraged repeat viewings. A similar strategy could potentially be used for Doomsday in early 2027, once Dune’s IMAX exclusivity ends.
For now, Marvel is betting on a familiar combination: a blockbuster audiences already love, a few new minutes of footage and, naturally, a popcorn bucket big enough to deserve its own superhero origin story.
