MUMBAI: It’s a case of promotion in motion at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), with marketing leader Jit Sengupta stepping into a broader role as Vice President, Central Marketing & Creative Services.

The elevation marks a significant expansion of Sengupta’s responsibilities within ZEEL, where he will now oversee marketing across the Hindi Movie Cluster, Marathi Movie Cluster, Bhojpuri portfolio, youth-focused channels Zing and Zest, Zee Live, Unite8 Sports, and several other key entertainment properties.

Sengupta announced the development on LinkedIn, describing the move as a new chapter in his journey with the broadcaster. He joined ZEEL in 2019 and has since played a central role in building and scaling several of the network’s brands across regional and national markets.

Among his most notable achievements has been the launch and growth of ZEE Biskope, the Bhojpuri movie channel that quickly established itself as a market leader. During his tenure, the channel achieved strong audience awareness and reach leadership, while its campaigns earned recognition across multiple national and international marketing forums.

He also played a key role in launching Zee Bangla Sonar, strengthening ZEEL’s presence in the Bengali entertainment market. Beyond regional entertainment, Sengupta helped drive network-wide marketing initiatives for the International League T20 (ILT20), spanning both television and digital platforms.

Before his latest appointment, Sengupta served as vice president, marketing, ZEE Biskope and Zee Bangla Cinema. In that role, he led audience engagement efforts across Bihar, Jharkhand, Purvanchal and Bengal while spearheading campaigns that blended television, digital media, consumer engagement and public relations.

His career spans more than a decade across media, publishing and financial services. Prior to joining ZEEL, he held senior brand and marketing roles at ABP Group and The Times of India, where he led several high-profile campaigns across eastern India. Earlier stints also include positions at Magma Fincorp and marketing services firm S J Enterprise.

An alumnus of the University of Warwick’s Warwick Business School, Sengupta holds a master’s degree in Marketing and Strategy. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for combining traditional brand-building with digital-first marketing approaches, particularly in regional media markets.

His expanded mandate comes at a time when broadcasters are increasingly looking to create stronger connections between television, digital content, live events and sports properties. With a diverse portfolio now under his watch, Sengupta is expected to play a key role in shaping the next phase of brand growth for ZEEL’s entertainment ecosystem.

As India’s media landscape becomes more fragmented and competitive, ZEEL appears to be betting on experienced marketing leadership to keep its brands front and centre with audiences across languages, platforms and genres.
