MUMBAI: Meesho’s cap table is about to get a little lighter, even as its numbers get heavier. Y Combinator is set to sell up to a 1.05 per cent stake in the e-commerce company through a block deal worth as much as Rs 957.5 crore, CNBC-TV18 reported, citing sources.

The block deal is slated for Monday, August 24, with the floor price fixed at Rs 197.5 per share. That represents a discount of up to 4 per cent to Meesho’s previous closing price. Y Combinator will also face a 30-day lock-in period for any further sale, according to the report.

As of the end of the June quarter, promoter entities held 16 per cent of Meesho, while public shareholders accounted for the remaining 84 per cent, according to exchange data.

The potential stake sale comes as Meesho enters the new financial year with a sharper financial performance. The company’s net loss fell 54 per cent year-on-year to Rs 132.8 crore in the June quarter, compared with Rs 289.4 crore a year earlier. Revenue, meanwhile, climbed 48 per cent to Rs 3,712.8 crore.

Meesho’s net merchandise value (NMV) also grew 34 per cent to Rs 11,614 crore, while its contribution margin improved to 4.6 per cent, from 4 per cent sequentially.

One of the more striking growth engines was content-led commerce. Content Commerce NMV surged 141 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of FY27, while the number of active order-generating content pieces rose 143 per cent to 1.7 million.

The company attributed the momentum to improvements across its creator ecosystem, including simpler onboarding and AI-powered tools designed to help creators improve performance and monetise their content.

Meesho’s AI-enabled creator toolkit provides insights into content performance, identifies high-performing SKUs and helps creators focus on content that can generate revenue. The company has also streamlined onboarding to help creators begin earning sooner.

For Meesho, therefore, the proposed block deal comes against a quarter where both the top line and creator-led commerce are moving upwards. Whether the Y Combinator sale changes investor sentiment will now depend on how the market reads the Rs 197.5 floor price and the company’s improving operating metrics.
