MUMBAI: Prasenjit Basu is back at Voltas, this time with a broader brief. He has been appointed head of marketing and corporate communications at Voltas Limited, after nearly a decade leading marketing, product and ecommerce at Voltas Beko.

Basu has taken charge of the new role in August 2026, according to his professional profile. He had spent more than nine years at Voltas Beko, joining the company in April 2017 as part of the leadership team behind the joint venture between Voltas and Turkish appliance maker Arçelik.

At Voltas Beko, Basu was most recently head of marketing, product and ecommerce. He played a key role in building the brand from the ground up, including its launch across categories such as refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and ovens.

As part of the early leadership team, Basu was involved in revalidating the venture’s go-to-market strategy, supported by consumer research covering more than 4,000 households and market assessments across more than 2,000 distribution and dealer touchpoints.

His tenure also included the transition of Voltas Beko from an import-led business to one with manufacturing operations in India. The company says it crossed sales of 3 million products within four years of operations.

Basu had previously spent two years at Voltas as senior general manager, marketing, between April 2017 and March 2019, before moving into the Voltas Beko leadership role.

Before returning to the Voltas group, Basu was with TEN Sports Network for more than five years. He served as senior vice-president and head of marketing and audience strategy for India, Pakistan and the Americas from April 2014 to April 2017, following two years as vice-president and head of marketing.

At TEN Sports, Basu was involved in repositioning the broadcaster as a broader sports entertainment business, with responsibilities spanning brand strategy, content development, digital initiatives, audience strategy and new media.

He also briefly took on the additional responsibility of marketing head for ZEE Entertainment’s distribution business in 2015.

Earlier, Basu served as DGM and head of marketing at Videocon Consumer Durables, where he worked on brand repositioning, product marketing and channel initiatives across Videocon and its sister brands, including Kelvinator, Sansui and Kenstar.

His return to Voltas comes at a time when the consumer durables business is navigating a rapidly changing market, with brand building, product innovation, ecommerce and integrated communications increasingly converging.

In his new role, Basu will bring together his experience across consumer durables, sports entertainment, digital marketing and brand building as Voltas strengthens its marketing and corporate communications agenda.
