Times Network appoints Samarth Chauhan as DGM, revenue for sports business
Chauhan joins from DP World ILT20 to lead commercial growth in southern market
MUMBAI: Times Network is adding another experienced sports commercial hand to its team. The company has appointed Samarth Chauhan as deputy general manager, revenue, within its sports business, PWR India Tours.
Chauhan will lead revenue and commercial development for the southern market, with a focus on monetising Times Network’s sports portfolio and emerging sports properties.
He joins Times Network with more than 13 years of experience across sports sponsorship, commercial strategy, partnerships and franchise operations in India and the UAE. His experience spans cricket, football, kabaddi and other sporting properties.
Before joining Times Network, Chauhan was central sponsorship manager at DP World ILT20 and account director, partnerships, at Burman Sports. He has also held roles with GMR Sports, Desert Vipers, BCCI, Bengaluru Bulls, Tamil Thalaivas, Kerala Blasters and IMG.
Chauhan previously served as chief commercial officer at Desert Vipers and general manager at Bengaluru Bulls. He also founded sports consultancy Sublime Sports Consultancy.
His career has included sponsorship and commercial partnerships across the ILT20, SA20, Indian Super League and Pro Kabaddi League. At Desert Vipers, he generated $1.3 million in sponsorship revenue during the team’s first season, according to the company.
Commenting on his appointment, Times Network’s deputy general manager, revenue, Samarth Chauhan, said, “Times Network’s entry into sports presents an exciting opportunity to build commercially meaningful properties in a market where the appetite for sport continues to expand beyond the traditional major leagues.”
Chauhan added that he would focus on developing the commercial engine for Times Network’s sporting portfolio in the South and building sports properties that deliver value for fans, partners and other stakeholders.
His appointment comes as Times Network expands its presence in sports, with the southern market emerging as a key area for commercial development across both established and newer sporting properties.
