Tata Motors posts 59 per cent jump in passenger vehicle sales
July sales touch 63,760 units as EV volumes more than double to 15,217 and overseas business grows 76 per cent
MUMBAI: Tata Motors hit the accelerator in July and barely glanced at the rear-view mirror. Buoyed by strong demand across both conventional and electric models, the automaker reported a sharp rise in passenger vehicle sales, with electric vehicles delivering the fastest sprint of the month.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. reported total sales of 63,760 units across domestic and international markets in July 2026, a 59 per cent jump from 40,175 units sold in the same month last year. The figures include passenger vehicles as well as electric vehicles across both domestic and overseas operations.
The domestic market remained the engine of growth, contributing 62,611 units, up 58 per cent from 39,521 units in July 2025. International business also gathered pace, with sales rising 76 per cent to 1,149 units, compared with 654 units a year earlier.
The standout performer, however, was the company’s electric vehicle portfolio. EV sales surged 114 per cent year on year to 15,217 units in July, more than doubling from 7,124 units in the corresponding month last year. The figures include sales from Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, the company’s EV-focused subsidiary.
The latest numbers reinforce Tata Motors’ growing momentum in India’s passenger vehicle market, where demand for electric mobility continues to outpace the broader industry. While conventional models continued to account for the bulk of volumes, the triple-digit growth in EV sales suggests the company’s electric strategy is gathering significant traction.
The sales performance also comes close on the heels of Tata Motors’ decision to increase passenger vehicle prices by up to 1.5 per cent, underscoring the confidence of the country’s largest electric passenger vehicle maker as it navigates rising demand and evolving market dynamics.
