A communications veteran of agency giants Zeno Group and On Purpose moves in house, betting on a hyperlocal services startup riding a jobs boom

BENGALURU: Tanu Gupta has crossed over from the agency world to join Snabbit as manager, public relations and communications, marking a shift that captures a wider trend of PR professionals trading client rosters for a single brand to call their own. Gupta spent close to five years honing her craft at Zeno Group and On Purpose, working her way up from junior account executive to senior account executive, before deciding it was time to build a narrative from the inside rather than merely narrate it from the outside.

The timing is notable. Snabbit, a hyperlocal services platform, has recently crossed 115,000 jobs completed in a single day and one crore lifetime jobs, milestones that suggest the company has moved well past its early scrappy phase into something resembling operational maturity. For a communications hire, walking in at this juncture means less time spent explaining what the company does and more time spent shaping how a scaling consumer brand is perceived just as it hits its stride.

Gupta’s move also reflects a broader churn in India’s PR industry, where agency trained talent is increasingly being pulled in house by startups eager to control their own narrative rather than outsource it. Agencies remain useful for range and reach, but founders have grown wary of message dilution that comes with juggling multiple client accounts, and are willing to pay for dedicated in house expertise instead. Gupta credited Aayush Agarwal, Vaibhav Sabhlok, Aashanaa Bothra and Monika Shindey for backing her transition, a reminder that these lateral moves are as much about internal trust and sponsorship as they are about résumés.

For Snabbit, the appointment signals an intent to professionalise its communications function at a moment when convenience platforms across India are jostling for consumer mindshare and, increasingly, investor attention. Expect the company to lean harder into storytelling around its scale and job creation numbers in the months ahead, precisely the kind of narrative building Gupta has been hired to lead.
