Tanishq marks 30 years with campaign celebrating its customers
Jewellery brand replaces store branding with customer portraits across 800 outlets
MUMBAI: After three decades of crafting jewellery, Tanishq is polishing a different kind of gem, its customers. As the jewellery retailer celebrates its 30th anniversary, it has launched a nationwide campaign that puts customers, rather than the brand itself, at the centre of the milestone.
Titled “Celebrating You for 30 Years”, the campaign shifts the spotlight from the company’s legacy to the millions of people who have made Tanishq a part of life’s defining moments, from weddings and festivals to promotions and personal milestones.
In one of the most visible elements of the campaign, Tanishq has replaced its iconic storefront branding with photographs of real customers across its stores in India and international markets. Instead of leading with its logo, the retailer is using customer portraits to transform its storefronts into tributes to the people who have shaped the brand over the past three decades.
The campaign extends beyond retail outlets through a series of interactive installations designed to make customers part of the celebration.
A special anniversary edition of The Times of India will feature a golden mirror that allows readers to see themselves reflected within the campaign, while similar mirror installations will appear in public spaces across multiple cities. The installations are intentionally incomplete until someone stands in front of them, reinforcing the campaign’s central message that the brand’s story is built by its customers.
The celebrations will culminate in a nationwide event across nearly 800 Tanishq stores in India and international markets, bringing together customers, employees and former team members to mark the occasion through store inaugurations and anniversary celebrations.
Commenting on the campaign, Pelki Tshering, Chief Marketing Officer, Tanishq, said the company wanted the anniversary to recognise the trust customers have placed in the brand over the past 30 years rather than celebrate the brand alone. She said the campaign reflects Tanishq’s long-standing philosophy of putting customers before the brand and serves as a gesture of gratitude to those who have made it part of their lives.
The initiative comes at a time when brands are increasingly moving away from conventional anniversary advertising towards experience-led campaigns that encourage consumer participation. By turning customers into the face of its milestone celebration, Tanishq is betting that authentic stories and shared memories resonate more strongly than corporate self-congratulation.
After 30 years in the jewellery business, the brand’s latest campaign suggests that its biggest milestone is not the number of years it has been around, but the millions of personal stories that continue to sparkle alongside its own.
