Sonia Sharda promoted to managing partner at Dentsu Creative
Rapid rise sees her climb four rungs at the agency in just over three years
MUMBAI: Sonia Sharda is on a tear. The agency veteran has been elevated to managing partner at Dentsu Creative, capping a whirlwind three years and two months that saw her climb from vice president business to executive vice president, senior vice president and now the top job, in quick succession.
Sharda’s rise reflects a career built on turning business problems into brand opportunities. At Dentsu Creative, she works with ambitious brands on strategy, creativity and integrated marketing, connecting consumer insight, culture, technology and business into ideas designed to move the needle commercially, not just win attention.
Her path to Dentsu Creative ran through nearly six years at WATConsult, where she rose steadily from group account manager to regional head, west, then associate vice president and finally vice president of operations covering west and south India, building a reputation as an operator who could scale teams and businesses across regions.
Sharda’s earlier grounding came in Dubai, where she spent over three years at Orient Planet across social media and project roles, cutting her teeth in a market rather different from Mumbai’s, before returning to India to build her operations career.
With a master’s in public relations and a postgraduate diploma in advertising and media, both from the University of Mumbai, Sharda has spent over 15 years partnering with market-leading brands, launching products, strengthening brand equity and building teams focused on real commercial impact.
As managing partner, she now takes on a bigger canvas, and if her trajectory so far is any indication, Dentsu Creative’s clients are in for some bold thinking ahead. Watch this space, the ideas are about to get bigger.
