Smarten appoints Ranjit Singh as chief operating officer from August 1

Industry veteran with over five decades of experience to lead manufacturing, operations and supply chain as the company scales

NEW DELHI: Smarten Power Systems has appointed Ranjit Singh as its chief operating officer (COO), effective August 1, following board approval on July 14.

Singh, who was serving as consultant and vice president, operations at the company, will oversee end-to-end operations, manufacturing, supply chain, quality systems and strategic execution as Smarten expands its presence in India and overseas.

During his previous role, Singh led the transition of Smarten’s in-house battery manufacturing facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, following the company’s IPO. He oversaw the transfer of manufacturing operations and established the processes, systems and teams required for stable in-house production. He will now lead operations across the company’s existing manufacturing plants while driving the operationalisation of its upcoming facility.

The appointment comes as Smarten strengthens its manufacturing capabilities and broadens its product portfolio to meet growing demand for power backup and renewable energy solutions.

Ranjit brings deep operational expertise, extensive manufacturing experience and a proven track record of building high-performing operations. Having already contributed significantly as vice president, operations, he understands our business well. We are confident his leadership will further strengthen our operational excellence and support our strategic ambitions,” said Smarten whole-time director and chief executive officer Rajnish Sharma.

Commenting on his appointment, Singh said his priorities would include strengthening manufacturing excellence, streamlining operations, enhancing quality systems, improving supply chain agility and building scalable operations to support the company’s long-term growth.

Singh brings more than 52 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, product development and operations across the power electronics, telecom power and renewable energy sectors. Before joining Smarten, he held leadership roles at Vrinda Nano Technologies, Agmetal India, Delta Power Solutions India, Ascom (India), Benning SMC Power Systems, Bhurji Electronics, JCT Electronics, UPTRON Powertronics, USHA Rectifier Corporation India and Eastern Electronics.

Smarten Power Systems designs, assembles and supplies power backup and solar energy products for residential and commercial customers. The company operates across 23 states and two union territories in India and exports to more than 17 countries across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
