Ravishankar joins GAVL after more than two decades across finance roles at Unilever
MUMBAI: Godrej Agrovet has appointed Ravishankar A. as its chief financial officer, marking a new chapter in the finance professional’s career after more than two decades with Unilever.
Ravishankar announced his appointment on LinkedIn, saying he has joined Godrej Agrovet in the CFO role in October 2026.
At Godrej Agrovet, he will take on the company’s senior finance leadership role as it operates across areas including animal nutrition, crop protection, oil palm, dairy and frozen foods.
Reflecting on the move, Ravishankar said his more than 20-year journey at Unilever, across multiple roles and geographies, had given him experiences and learnings that would remain an important part of his professional journey.
Before joining Godrej Agrovet, he was vice president, finance, Beauty & Wellbeing, South Asia at Unilever from March 2024 to September 2026.
His earlier roles at Unilever included group financial controller and head of investor relations at Hindustan Unilever, finance director for global procurement, FP&A and performance management, and finance director for global packaging and indirects procurement.
He also held finance roles covering refreshment India, treasury and insurance, and global markets. He began his Unilever career as a business leadership trainee in 2006.
Prior to Unilever, Ravishankar worked as a software engineer at IGATE from July 2003 to June 2004.
Ravishankar said Godrej Agrovet’s purpose and its connection with India’s agriculture ecosystem were among the factors that drew him to the company.
“Agriculture sits at the heart of India’s economy and of millions of livelihoods, and GAVL touches that ecosystem across animal nutrition, crop protection, oil palm, dairy and frozen foods,” he said.
He added that he looked forward to working with Godrej Agrovet’s leadership team and colleagues to build on the company’s foundations, pursue its growth ambitions and create long-term value for stakeholders.
Ravishankar holds a PGDM in finance and marketing from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and a B.Tech in electronics engineering from the University of Kerala.
