Škoda Auto India and BBH India launch ‘Says It All.’ campaign for new Slavia
The integrated campaign uses quirky films, redacted print ads and an unconventional outdoor activation to let the sedan speak for itself.
MUMBAI: A car that needs little introduction deserves advertising that says less and does more. Škoda Auto India and BBH India have taken this thought to the streets with ‘Says It All.’, an integrated campaign for the new Škoda Slavia that moves beyond conventional automotive advertising, using humour, curiosity and creative restraint to make its point.
Building on Škoda’s rich legacy of crafting distinctive sedans, the campaign draws on the new Slavia’s design, presence, performance and European engineering. Its central proposition is simple: when a car has enough character, it can speak for itself.
At the heart of ‘Says It All.’ are two quirky films built around conversations that initially have little to do with cars. One explores the curious fact that a cow can walk up a flight of stairs but cannot walk back down, while the other revolves around the equally unexpected subject of a drunk ant.
Both seemingly random conversations eventually find their way back to the new Škoda Slavia, allowing the car’s character to do the talking without the need for elaborate explanations.
The idea extends beyond films into print and out-of-home (OOH) advertising, with each execution interpreting the campaign’s central thought differently. In print, a series of redacted advertisements deliberately conceals key details of the new Slavia, creating intrigue while reinforcing the proposition that the product needs little explanation.
The campaign’s most unconventional expression comes through OOH. Rather than using all its outdoor advertising space to promote the new Slavia, Škoda is giving away one of its outdoor sites to homegrown Indian businesses and brands, offering them a platform to tell their own stories.
The execution turns the campaign’s philosophy into action. By stepping aside and allowing other businesses to occupy its advertising space, Škoda makes a larger creative statement: a product that speaks for itself can afford to let others do the talking.
The approach also gives the campaign a distinctive edge in a category where product specifications, performance claims and feature-led messaging often dominate communication.
Speaking about the campaign, Ashish Gupta, brand director, Škoda Auto India, said, “The new Slavia carries forward Škoda’s rich sedan legacy, and with ‘Says It All.’, we wanted to reflect this character through a campaign that takes a different approach to telling the car’s story. The core idea is to let the Slavia speak for itself, by using its identity to connect with a new generation of customers who appreciate the car’s distinctive design, performance and European engineering.”
Parikshit Bhattacharya, chief creative officer, BBH India and Propagate India, added, “For the launch of the new Škoda Slavia, we didn’t need to say much because it enjoys a great fan base. And fans know pretty much everything about the car. That gave us the freedom to steer the idea beyond a conventional car campaign, from films featuring strange topics of conversation and redacted print ads to an OOH execution that gives its media space away to other brands. Each expression of the campaign became a talking point because it talked about anything but the car. Thanks to a car that ‘Says It All.’”
The creative strength of the campaign lies in its willingness to resist the conventional hard sell. From seemingly unrelated conversations to deliberately withholding information in print and surrendering advertising space outdoors, each execution uses a different route to reinforce the same product proposition.
‘The new Škoda Slavia. Says It All.’ is now live across digital, print and OOH, bringing the campaign’s central thought to life across multiple formats and audiences.
